The Fortresses Walls

In shadows deep, a weary heart does dwell, broken trust, a tale too grim to tell. Betrayed by their words that once seemed pure, linger in doubt, and with uncertainty obscured.

The laughter shared, the secrets once confided, now tarnished by the pain that’s so deeply bided.
A fortress was built around a wounded soul, to shield it from harm, and to keep emotions whole.

The scars of past betrayals run so very deep, a solemn vow to guard what’s left to keep. Yet in the silence, echoes of a plea,
to somehow trust again, to set love free.

But caution reigns, a sentiment so strong, the walls erected, standing guard where trust should belong.
Yet deep within, a flicker of a spark,
a glimmer of hope in the shadows so dark.

So tread with care, dear heart, and do not come too close, light may shine where once there were just woes.
In the brokenness, light, a chance to see, that trust can be rebuilt, setting this weary spirit free.
