Ah, the infamous myth of soulmates.

We’ve all heard that there is one perfect person in the universe just waiting for us to find them, our other half, our soulmate.

It’s a romantic notion, isn’t it?

The idea is that somewhere out there is someone who completes us and understands us deeper than anyone else could. But let’s face it, folks, it’s all a big fat lie.

First, the idea that there is one person in the world who is meant for us is just plain ridiculous.

I mean, there are over 7 billion people on this planet. Are we supposed to believe that out of all those billions of people, there is only one – just one – who is our perfect match?

That’s like trying to find a needle in a haystack, except the haystack is the size of Mount Everest.

Let’s not forget the pressure that comes with the whole soulmate concept.

Think about it – if you believe in soulmates, then every relationship you have that doesn’t work out must mean that that person wasn’t your soulmate.

So not only are you left heartbroken, but now you have to wonder if your true soulmate is still out somewhere, just waiting for you to find them.

Talk about a recipe for anxiety and self-doubt.

Don’t get me wrong, I want someone to choose me.

Someone who shows up and shows with their actions that their words have value. Someone confident in themselves, allowing them to know that if I choose them by chance, they are worthy.

Perhaps the biggest flaw in the whole soulmate theory is the idea that only one person can make us happy.

I don’t know about you, but it is possible to find happiness alone. Thank you very much. Finding someone with whom you can share that happiness is the gold standard.

Relying on someone else to complete us is not only unfair to them, but it’s also a surefire way to set ourselves up for disappointment.

So, let’s all take a deep breath and admit it – soulmates might be a fairy tale.

We must put in the effort, communicate, compromise, build a healthy and fulfilling relationship, and design our fairy tale.

Don’t allow yourself to be an option when you should be the only choice.

Focus on finding someone who makes you exceptionally happy, challenges, supports, and loves you unconditionally for who you are – flaws and all – in the end, isn’t that what matters?

Over the past year, I’ve embarked on a wild and crazy adventure by starting this blog.

Yes, that’s right, I decided to throw caution to the wind and share my innermost thoughts, feelings, and experiences with the world. And let me tell you, it has been a rollercoaster ride of emotions, self-discovery, and unexpected opportunities.

I was excited and afraid when I first launched this blog space.

Would anyone care about what I had to say?

Can I keep up with the demands of maintaining a blog?

Would I regret putting myself out there for all to see?

But despite my reservations, I took the plunge and hit publish on my first post a year ago today.

And let me tell you, the response was overwhelming.

People are reading my words!

They share my posts on social media and have even reached out to me personally to tell me how much they enjoyed my writing. It is a surreal and humbling experience.

Beyond external validation, however, the internal transformation from sharing my life with the world has truly changed my life.

These posts force me to confront my fears, insecurities, and vulnerabilities head-on. I have to dig deep and get real with myself about who I was and now am, what I want, how that’s changed over the last few years, and where I am headed.

As I opened up and shared my struggles, triumphs, and everything in between, I found a sense of catharsis and liberation that I had never experienced before. It was like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders, and I was finally free to be my authentic self without fear of judgment or rejection.

However, perhaps the most unexpected outcome of starting this blog was the incredible connections and opportunities that came my way. I have met fellow bloggers who shared my passions and interests, collaborated on projects that pushed me out of my comfort zone, and even landed paid writing gigs that allowed me to turn my passion into a source of income.

In short, opening up and sharing my life with the world through a blog has been nothing short of life-changing. This endeavor has pushed me to grow, evolve, and embrace my true self in ways I never thought possible.

So here’s to another year of blogging, sharing, and baring my soul to the world.
